Time: Tuesday, April 25, 2017, 10:30 a.m.

Contents: This presentation will feature the results of a comprehensive study of general and specialty contractors as well as building owners on their experience in implementing BIM solutions on their completed construction projects throughout the state of California, USA.  These projects range from US$8 million to approx. US$300 million in value and include hospital buildings, educational facilities and commercial/institutional complexes completed in the last several years.  Major factors related to the impact of BIM on enhancing field productivity are discussed in detail, such as the reduction in requests of information (RFI) from contractors to design engineers, formal change orders (CO) issued, the amount of rework required on a project, and who is responsible for BIM delivery, deployment and coordination on construction sites.  Implications of the collected data on determining the BIM return on investment (RoI) for construction contractors are elaborated, with conclusions for the future of BIM on construction sites in the U.S. and worldwide.
