Title:RFID-Enabled BIM Platform for Supply Chain Management of Prefabricated Housing Production

Contents: In this presentation, Professor Shen will introduce a recently completed research project, funded by the Innovation and Technology Commission in Hong Kong, which uses RFID and BIM in the development of an information platform to collect and use real-time data to support the whole supply chain management of prefabricated housing production including production of building components in factories, cross-border transportation, and on-site assembly.

Introduction of the speaker: Professor Geoffrey SHEN is a Chair Professor of Construction Management and Associate Dean of Faculty of Construction and Environment, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He has led a large number of research projects with total funding over HK$30 million and has authored 200+ papers in refereed journals. He serves the editorial boards of several leading journals, and has been invited to give keynote presentations in a number of international conferences. He is the Immediate Past Chairman of the Global Leadership Forum for Construction Engineering and Management Programs. Professionally, he is an Eminent Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and a Fellow of the Hong Kong Institute of Value Management. As a certified Value Management Facilitator (List A) recognised by the HKSAR Government, he has provided professional services for many client organisations in both the public and private sectors. He has 30+ years of experience in collaborative working in construction supported by information and communication technologies and he has been involved in a number of research projects at national level on industrialisation of building construction.
