Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering mainly cultivate the talents working on advanced design and manufacture of naval architecture and ocean engineering structures, feasibility demonstration of naval architecture and ocean engineering structures, new ship development and water transportation systems, structural mechanics and hydrodynamics of naval architecture and ocean structure engineering, information technology application in ships and shipping enterprises, manufacturing automation equipments of naval architecture and ocean engineering structures, ocean hydrographic survey and kinetic analysis, teaching and research on numerical and physical model of harbor and waterway and so on. It pays equal attention to basic research, applied basic research and engineering applications and development. Besides, it includes both military and civilian research.

Reserch fileds:Advanced design and manufacture of naval architecture and ocean engineering structures (including computer-aided ship design and manufacture), development and energy-saving technology of new ships and new marine equipments, hydrodynamic of naval architecture and ocean engineering and dynamics of naval architecture and ocean engineering.

Objectives:It intends to cultivate advanced talents with good basic knowledge and professional knowledge on naval architecture and ocean engineering who master the present situation and development trend of the dischipline, basic test techniques, data analysis and computer application technology and can preside over the research projects.
