报告人简介:

Halil Sezen教授1993年在Middle East Technical University获得土木工程学士学位,1996年在Cornell University获得土木结构工程硕士学位,2002年在UC.Berkeley获得土木结构工程博士学位,2003年获得俄亥俄州认证专业结构工程师资格,目前在The Ohio State University土木与大地测量工程学院担任结构系系主任。

Halil Sezen教授及其团队多年来主要从事多灾害作用下建筑结构易损性分析及可靠度研究并做了大量科研工作。从业十多年来,已完成指导近40多名博士及硕士研究生的研究工作,积累了大量的土木工程领域科研和教学经验。近年来结合相关科研成果主编出版个人学术专著两本,参与编写学术专著三本,发表高水学术期刊论文50多篇,参加国际会议并发表国际会议论文70多篇,目前担任结构工程学报(Journal of Structural Engineering)副主编,同时入选工程结构(Engineering Structures)Elsevier)期刊、结构完整性和维护期刊(Journal of Structural Integrity and Maintenance)TaylorFrancis)、混凝土施工进展(Advances in Concrete Construction)Techno Press)期刊等七个国际行业顶级期刊的编委会成员,具有美国混凝土协会(ACI)及美国土木工程师协会(ASCE)成员资格,在相关土木工程研究领域具有丰富的研究成果和极高的学术威望。

 

报告摘要:

Major factors contributing to collapse of building structures under lateral and gravity loads will be presented. While the ductility and redundancy are critical for the transfer and redistribution of loads after the failure of a member, one of the main reasons for the collapse of buildings is insufficient design and detailing of columns. Shear failure and gravity load collapse of concrete columns with poor reinforcement detailing will be discussed. A new reinforcement and potential column retrofit options will be presented. Experimental evidence from laboratory tests of columns and examples from the field will be shown to demonstrate the importance of reinforcement details to improve resistance against earthquakes and other hazards. Nine existing steel, concrete and masonry buildings were tested in Ohio by physically removing the first story columns or load bearing walls. Results from these field experiments will be presented. A quick overview will be provided for current research projects at the Ohio State University.
