John Zaniewski教授:
Dr. Zaniewski earned BSCE, MSCE, and Ph.D. degrees at the University of Texas at Austin.  His dissertation on Asphalt Overlay Design for Flexible Pavements was developed on a Federal Highway Administration, FHWA, research project. The mechanistic-empirical principles used in this work are similar to the methodologies currently being implemented in the newest AASHTO pavement design procedure.  Dr. Zaniewski’s first full time assignment was with Texas Research and Development Foundation, TRDF, on a project in Brazil to collect fuel consumption and vehicle operating cost data for the development of the World Bank’s Highway Design and Maintenance computer program for analyzing the life cycle cost of highway investments.  Following completion of the Brazil project, Dr. Zaniewski continued working with TRDF on a research project to provide vehicle operating cost models for use in the FHWA’s Highway Performance Monitoring System.  These models were successfully used by the FHWA for over 20 years for the evaluation of the highway system in the US.  Following completion of this project Dr. Zaniewski worked on several projects for various sponsors including the FHWA, NCHRP and state highway agencies.  In particular, Dr. Zaniewski researched pavement performance models, the development and implementation of pavement management systems and the development and presentation of a FHWA short course on pavement management systems.
