On September 28, a delegation of the Polytechnic University of Turin paid a visit to SCUT. They were received at the Shaw Building of Humanities by Qiu Xueqing, SCUT’s Vice President. The Polytechnic University of Turin delegation of six included Rector Guido Saracco, Rector’s Delegate for Relations with China Michele Bonino, and Rector’s Delegate for European Relations Roberto Zanino.

On September 27, Xu Ruisheng, Vice Governor of Guangdong Province, greeted the delegation and spoke highly of the fruitful collaboration between SCUT and PoliTO.

Qiu Xueqing welcomed the guests on the behalf of SCUT and expressed hope that based on existing cooperation, SCUT will broaden the partnership with PoliTO in fields such as architecture and mechanical engineering, thereby advancing the development of Guangzhou International Campus and the construction first-class disciplines. When the time is right, SCUT and PoliTO are expected to work together on developing further cooperation in emerging scientific fields, including the establishment a green architecture and smart city technology research center, and a mechanical power and automotive engineering research center.

Prof. Guido Saracco stated that SCUT and PoliTO both have similar disciplinary strengths, and that PoliTO will fully support the development of Guangzhou International Campus. Furthermore, he said that PoliTO is looking forward to joining Guangzhou International Campus in due course, and expressed strong interest in cooperating with SCUT’s School of Green Architecture and Smart Cities, as well as the Shien-Ming Wu School of Intelligent Engineering. He is looking forward to further implementing new programs through establishing the Sino-Italy Center and by hosting joint seminars.
