在颁奖仪式结束之后的诗朗诵专场,安然教授受邀吟诵了她第三本诗集的诗作《心·不了》,《Intercultural Communication Studies》期刊主编Radwanska-Williams Joanna当即将此首诗译为英文再次吟诵,不同语言的演绎使得诗歌的韵律与意象不断交融,引来现场阵阵掌声!(图/文 何蓓婷 魏先鹏) From June 29th to July 3rd of 2016, the second China Intercultural Communication Annual (CICA) forumand the 22nd International Association of Intercultural Communication (IAICS) annual meeting was held at Shanghai International Studies University. Professor An Ran attended the meetingand gave a speech at its general assembly. Among other distinguished guests were postdoctoral fellow Nadeem Akhtar and doctoral candidates He Beiting, Liu Guoli and He Guohua. In the second session of the CICA Forum, Professor An Ran led the Confucius Institute research team with a special speech. An first introduced the Guangdong Provincial Public Diplomacy and Intercultural Communication Research and introduced the three Confucius Institutes associated with SCUT. She reviewed the development of the Confucius Institutes and showed her research achievements in the Confucius Institute. From an analysis of the literature of Confucius Institutes from 2004 to 2015, she points out that, foreign research pays more attention to the Confucius Institutes’ influence overseas (in politics, economy and culture), while domestic students pay more attention to teachers, teaching materials and teaching methods of the Confucius Institutes, both at home and abroad. These are in a 'two-track' state, in sharp contrast to each other and lacks understanding and blending. According to his research background, Nadeem Akhtar, a postdoctoral fellow from Pakistan, gave a lecture entitled The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, Confucius Institutes and Public Diplomacy: Opportunities and Challenges for the Pakistani Government. Phd student Liu Guoli summarized the current state of the Confucius Institute research, including its characteristics, contributions and shortcomings of the monographs, and analyzes the future direction of the development of Confucius Institutes. The CICA Forum was jointly sponsored by the Institute of Journalism and Communication of CASS, the Guangdong Provincial Public Diplomacy and Intercultural Communication Research (School of International Education at SCUT) and the Center for Intercultural Studies of the Shanghai International Studies University. The first meeting of forum was sponsored by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences Institute of Journalism and Communication, the second by the Center for Intercultural Studies, and our school will host the third in the future. The meeting finally held the handover ceremony of the forum, Professor An Ran took the CICA emblem, and welcomed the broad masses of scholars to Guangzhou next year. On July 1st, Professor An Ran delivered a speech entitled From Intercultural Adaptation Experience to Intercultural Competence in a Multicultural Classroom at the 22nd IAICS Annual Conference. She presented the Outstanding Young Scholar Award. The theme of this IAICS conference was Culture, Communication and Cosmopolitanism, which included 6 keynote speeches, 10 Chinese forums, 16 English forumsand attracting more than 200 intercultural communication scholars and experts from China and abroad. In her speech, Professor An Ran stated that the current study of intercultural adaptation focuses on the host country's cultural adaptation to the foreigner and less attention to the foreigner’s intercultural adaptation to the host’s culture (the mainstream group). Through nearly ten years of research about intercultural communication in the classroom with overseas Chinese, it is found that in the context of a multicultural classroom, the interactions between Chinese students and international students and the adaptation of Chinese students are quite difficult. The Yin and yang theory, which uses a Chinese cultural tradition, was explained and provides a dynamic perspective for acculturation research. During the general assembly, Professor Chen Guoming, Chairman of IAICS and Director of the Academic Committee, summed up his thirty-three years of research on Intercultural Communication Competence (ICC) and discussed ICC conceptualization and operations. He proposed that the concept of the definition and reference must pay attention to the context at hand. CQ originates from psychology and psychology is based on individual research, whereas ICC is a communication is based on interactive research. On the morning of July 3, Professor An Ran chaired the meeting of the finalists for the Intercultural Communication Association’s Outstanding Young Scholars Award. That afternoon, at the closing ceremony of the IAICS, Professor An Ran and Professor Chen Guoming, Professor Margaret D. Sliva and Professor Radwanska-Williams Joanna presented the awards to outstanding scholars and members of the editorial board of the International Society for Intercultural Communication. At the end of the ceremony, Professor An Ran was invited to recite her third poem poem Something in your Heart which is Difficult to Get Outand Radwanska-Williams Joanna, editor-in-chief of the Intercultural Communication Studies, translated it into English again. Chanting the different languages made the poetic rhythm and images blend together, drawing a big around applause ! (Images / Text by He Beiting and Wei Xianpeng) |
