    Professor Yoshio Makino belongs to The University of Tokyo. He is the key researcher of modified atmosphere packaging of fruits and vegetables in Japan. He is the Member of the Japanese Society of Agricultural, Biological and Environmental Engineers and Scientists, The Society of Packaging Science and Technology, Engineering in Agriculture, Environment and Food, and The Japanese Society of Agricultural Machinery and Food Engineers. He has more than ten awards in Japan Association of International Commission of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering, Japanese Society of Agricultural, Biological and Environmental Engineers and Scientists, and Japan Society of Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers, etc., having 91 publications and attending more than 240 conferences.

His current researches focus on

  • Non-destructive evaluation of quality of agricultural products using light sensing

  • Accumulation of functional components in vegetables by modified atmosphere packaging
