Introduction of speaker:
Dr. Hou has been in the United States for 50+ years. He is a senior scientist at the National Center for Agricultural Utilization Research, ARS, USDA at Peoria, Illinois. He is “Fellow” of five scientific societies: Society of Industrial Microbiology 1994; American Academy of Microbiology 1996; American Oil Chemists Society 2006; Japan Oil Chemists Society 2011; and International Society of Biocatalysis and Agricultural Biotechnology 2011. He is one of the six panel members representing USDA for the US-Japan Food and Agriculture Panel (UJNR) since 1999. He published over 250 peer reviewed papers, 17 U.S. Patents, and edited/authored seven books. To honor Dr. Hou’s scientific achievements and contributions, AOCS established a new award called “Ching Hou Biotechnology Award” in August of 2016.
