Undergraduates of Electric Power Engineering School won prizes in China finals of ICAN International Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition

From November 16 to 18, the China finals of the 13th ICAN International Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition was held in Hehai University. Electric Power Engineering School’s two works, directed by Associate Professor Xiao Wenxun, entered the finals and won the first and third prizes respectively.

The work, All-weather UAV inspection system and its location scheme for multi scene adaptation, created by the team of Li Junwen, Lu Zhilin, Zhang Ganghua, Xiao Zien, Deng Borong and other students, won the first prize of the final competition. The purpose of this project is to solve the problem that the real unmanned work cannot be realized due to the short battery life in the process of UAV patrol inspection. The team creatively proposed a multi-objective collaborative optimization model to analyze and plan the location of UAV charging platform. At the same time, the team also formed a rigorous business plan. The system has high efficiency and wide range of application, which can meet the needs of outdoor inspection, logistics delivery, disaster relief and other scenarios.

ICAN is a far-reaching international innovation and entrepreneurship competition, and it is also a landmark activity of college students' innovation and entrepreneurship. More than 3000 teams from more than 600 colleges across the country signed up the competition, 554 teams entered the finals. In total, 5 special prizes, 40 first prizes, 80 second prizes and 283 third prizes have been awarded.
