On February 23^th, 2019, 2019 Academic Annual Meeting of School of Environment and Energy was held in B4-215, the conference hall. Academician Zhang Yuanhang from Peking University, Academician Chen Yong from Guangzhou Institute of Energy Conversion and other experts were invited to the meeting to deliver academic reports. More than 100 teachers and students in School of Environmental and Energy attended this meeting.

Academic Chen Yong made an academic report entitled “Demand Traction, Problem Orientation”. He pointed out that science researchers should have the guts to face up to all kinds of innovative challenges and build the backbone and ambition for innovation; should respect natural rules, think scientifically and give priority to energy conservation; should develop solar energy and wind energy scientifically and rationally; give priority to develop passive biomass energy. Nowadays, “No Waste Society” movement is on its way. We are supposed to regard domestic garbage treatment as the important breakthrough of “No Waste Society”, carry out rural revitalization strategy and develop a clean mode of production of by-products control. At last, Academic Chen Yong emphasized the importance of obtaining materials from local sources, classifying and step by step, exploring their ability and then making full use of them.  

Academic Zhang Yuanhang gave an academic report entitled “Thoughts on the Air Quality in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area”. He indicated that Guangdong-Hong Kong Greater Bay Area is facing a huge challenge of prevention and control of secondary pollution (O₃ and PM2.5) and the historical mission of leading China in improving air quality. These days, the air quality in most cities in China has improved significantly, which has achieved ten intended targets in atmosphere. However, secondary pollution has already become the spotlight of the improvement of air quality. Academician Zhang demonstrated that Guangdong-Hong Kong Greater Bay Area is equipped with the strong foundation to support the prevention and control of secondary pollution. In the end, he pointed out that Guangdong- Hong Kong Greater Bay area can be the pioneer to explore a Chinese mode of cooperative control of O₃ and PM2.5.

Professor Wei Chaohai, Yin hua, Lu Guining, Fu Mingli, Hu Yun, Kang Xiongwu made academic reports around “Sentiments on Thesis and Innovation”, “Technical Studies on Remediation Technology of Compound Contaminated Soil in Electronic Waste Dismantling Sites”, “Those Years in Ether Solution: Lost in Electronic Waste with Bromine Odor”, “ Catalytic Activity Regulation of Cerium-Containing Materials Based on Oxygen Transfer Mechanism-VOCs and Carbon Black Purification”, “High Efficient Oxidation Technology of Organic Pollutants in Coal Combustion Process”, “Application of Functional Nanomaterials in Energy Storage and Conversion-Relevant Work Publishing Process” respectively.

After the symposium, all the teachers in school selected 10 winners of "Excellence Award" and 20 winners of "Contribution Award" in 2018 according to the 2018 Annual Development Report of School of Environment and Energy. The selection activity aimed at encouraging teachers to play a pioneering and exemplary role based on their posts. Here is the selection list:

Contribution Award: Deng Hong, Feng Chunhua, Ren Yuan, Liu Zehua, Liu Weizhen, Yang Shen, Wu Junliang, Wu Jinhua, Zhou Dinghui, Chen Yuancai, Chen Yan, Fan Liya, Qin Yujie, Tang Zhenghua, Huang Shaobin, Kang Xiongwu, Jiang Zhongjie, Lai Senchao, Li Ligui, and Pan Weibin.

Later, college teachers held the cultural exchange activities of annual meeting. The faculty dedicated their talents and performances. The leading group of the college recited “Spring” poems at the beginning. The new generation of the school recorded “Happy New Year to Everyone “. Then, the environmental engineering branch, the environmental science branch, the municipal branch, the energy branch, the office branch and the teachers Shi Wei and An Na, children Chen Huang Junhong, Wu Ruibin and Han Minghao and other performers put on performance, including violin, flute solo, chorus, collective poetry recitation, children’s voice solo, wind ensemble, “three and a half sentences”, sketches, chorus, etc. Participants also played games during the performance. Cultural exchange activities further strengthened the emotional friendship of teachers, strengthened the cohesion and centripetal force of the college as a whole, and created a harmonious family atmosphere of the School of Environment and Energy.
