School of Environment and Energy's first academic annual convention was held at report hall, room B1-106, on February 24th, 2018. Academicians Wu Fengchang, Tang Benzhong, and some other experts were invited to deliver open lectures, with more than 100 teachers and students attending the annual meeting.

  Dean of School of Environment and Energy Ye Daiqi hosted the convention, and said that the last year, with the joint efforts of the school staff, the Environment Science and Ecology has been evaluated as the top 1%of the world by ESI. What's more, Environment Science and Engineering has been evaluated as A- level, which is one of the eight A level subjects of our university, boosting from number 14 in China last round of evaluation to this round's number 8, also leaping into the first echelon of the best subjects in universities of China. There are great developing opportunities facing the environment and energy industry. The article World Top University Construction Program of South China University of Science and Technology issued by the university attaches great importance to the development of energy and environment science groups, which is a very important opportunity for the School of Environment and Energy. It requires all the teachers and students' continuous efforts to achieve the school's goals of constructing “double first-class school” in the new era of development. He hopes the stuff to keep fighting and getting more remarkable results.

  And then, academician Wu Fengchang gave an open lecture entitled Preliminary Study of Environmental Benchmarks in China, in which he emphasized the importance and urgency of building environmental benchmarks in China, and he expounded on the major scientific and technological engineering issues of environmental benchmarks as well as some cutting-edge technologies. He said environmental benchmark is the cornerstone and the scale of national demands, which has predominated the development of environmental protection in China and would make significant contribution to the cause of environmental protection in our country . Environmental benchmarks are the basic projects of China's environmental protection industry, which is a multidisciplinary study, they need to be accumulated systematically and in long-term. We have to commit ourselves to it!

 Academician Tang Benzhong spoke on the topic The Trilogy of Creative Research. He mentioned the three steps of innovation research, taking the research of aggregation-induced emission as an example: discovering new phenomena,  discovering new problems (Aggregation-Induced Emission); putting forward new ideas, building new models (Intramolecular Motion Limited); developing new applications and exploiting new fields (high technology, new advanced materials). He pointed out the fact that science research provided the researchers with a meaningful life with spiritual enrichment. He expected all the researchers to dedicate themselves to research with great passion and enthusiasm.

 Dang Zhi, Lin Zhang, Yan Keyou, Cheng Jianhua, Lai Senchao, Yang Chenghao, Zhu Yun and some other teachers gave their lectures: Transformation process of Sulphate Secondary Minerals in Metal Mining area and restriction Mechanism on heavy Metal Migration, Nanocrystalline growth Regulation Technology, Study on The Treatment of Industrial Hazardous Waste By Recycling: Taking The Typical Chromium Slags of Chlorate Industry As An Example, Intermediate and Post-treating Technology for Perovskite Solar Cell with Enhanced Stability and Performance, Experience in The Promotion of Scientific Research and industrialization of achievement, The Characteristics of proteins in Atmospheric Aerosol, The characteristics, sources and atmospheric reaction process ,  SCI paper published personal experience, and Applied Research Project Competition Experience . 

 After the seminar was an award ceremony which honored some specially devoted teachers according to the annual work report of teachers of the School of Environment and Energy. Dang Zhi was awarded Special Contribution Prize. 10 teachers were awarded Prize of Excellence. They are Zhu Yun, Yang Chenghao, Cheng Jianhua, Lai Senchao, Shi Zhenqing, Feng Chunhua, Yin Hua, Lu Guining, Yin Yurong, Zhou Weijia. And another 19 teachers were honored the Contribution Awards for 2017. They are Wu Pingxiao, Hu Yun, Wu Junliang, Fu Mingli, Wang Xiaojun, Huang Shaobin, Wu Jinhua, Yang Chen, Chen Yuancai, Niu Xiaojun, Tang Zhenghua, Zou Dinghui, Ma Weiwen, Pan Weibin, Yi Xiaoyun, Wan Jinquan, Liu Zehua, Liu Weizhen, Yuan Zibing. Honoring the teachers aimed to encourage all the teachers to work hard and  motivate others as a model.

 Then, the school teachers took part in a cultural exchange activity. Liu Jiang, Yi Xiaoyun, Wang Xiaojun, Chen Peirong, Zhang Xiaoping, Chen Hangyu, Liu Weizhen, Yan Zhicheng, Yin Hua, Huang Shaobin, Liu Xueling, Chen Minyu and Mai Haolan gave performances to the audience which includes solos, guqin performances, poetry recitations, Huangmei opera, erhu solos, flute playing, children's chorus, magic cubes show, bugles and so on. The show was also interspersed with games, which had enhanced the friendship and understanding of the teachers, strengthened the sense of togetherness and cohesion of the school, and created a harmonious atmosphere at the School of Environment and Energy.

 School leaders hoped the teachers to work hard continuously in the new year, offering more and more happiness to make the School of Environment and Energy a harmonious family. Wish ourselves a brighter future!
