Recently, the results of 2009 Guangdong Provincial Elite Course appraisal have officially released. SCUT's 7 courses won the title; namely, "Digital System Design" led by Prof. XU Xiangmin from School of Electronic and Information Engineering, "Structural Mechanics" led by Prof. WEI Demin from School of Civil and Transportation Engineering, "Architectural Design" led by Prof. SUN Yimin from School of Architecture, "Mathematical Analysis" led by Prof. LIU Zhengrong from School of Sciences, "Building Physics and Equipments" led by Prof. WU Shuoxian from school of Architecture, "Chemical Engineering Design" led by Prof. CHEN Li from School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering and "Mechanical Design" led by Prof. HUANG Ping from School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering. Up to now, SCUT has a total of 42 Guangdong Provincial Elite Courses.
It is reported that Ministry of Education and Guangdong Department of Education launched the Higher Education Teaching Quality and Teaching Reform project---Elite Course Development in 2003. In 2009, there are a total of 65 undergraduate courses in Guangdong colleges and universities listed as Guangdong Provincial Elite Courses.
