报告题目:Advanced Power Amplifier Techniques For 5G/6G Wireless Communication

报告摘要
In this seminar, some advanced techniques of Doherty power amplifier for 5G/6G wireless communications will be introduced. In past decades, Doherty power amplifiers have become the best candidate for linear amplification of modulated signals with high peak-to-average power ratios (PAPRs) due to their high efficiency from back-off point to saturation (e.g., OBO range). Meanwhile, the gallium nitride (GaN) electronic devices are emerging as promising candidates for next-generation high-efficiency power converters in wireless communication owing to superior material properties, such as high electric breakdown field, high-electron saturation velocity, and high mobility in a readily available heterojunction 2-D electron gas (2DEG) channel. With the development of wireless communications, more and more strict system requirements (such as high efficiency, high linearity, and OBO range extension) have been proposed that should be satisfied by DPAs, Therefore, GaN-based DPA circuits are needed to be developed urgently for various wireless application scenarios. Dr. Zhou will demonstrate his original techniques to show how the new technologies improve the performances of DPAs circuits for 5G/6G wireless communication. Meanwhile, some AI-driven circuit works for the PA design will be presented as well. Eventually, the conclusion will be given and the future research strategies will be demonstrated.
报告人简介
周新宇,香港理工大学研究助理教授,Laboratory of Radio Frequency Microelectronic Circuits实验室负责人。他于2018年在香港城市大学(城大)获得博士学位后继续于城大从事2年博士后工作。自2020年至2022年期间,他前往美国普林斯顿大学和斯坦福大学继续以博士后的身份从事研究工作。他的研究兴趣包括宽带高效率,高线性度氮化镓射频毫米波功率放大器,第三代半导体集成电路,人工智能微波电路设计。周博士是IEEE 高级会员, IEEE MTT-S 香港区学生大使,电路与系统领域顶级期刊IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems I: Regular Papers副编辑。周博士是IEEE MTT-12微波高功率技术委员会affiliate member,并连续于2023年和2024年连续两年担任微波电路领域顶级会议International Microwave Symposium,GaN Power Amplifier分会场主席职务。他于2017年获International Microwave Symposium, 高效率功率放大器设计竞赛冠军,也是历史上首位华人获奖者。
