One promising solution to alleviate the anticipated shortage of caregivers and nursing home in the near future is ambient assisted living, which could potentially result in win-win situation for all the stakeholders.
This talk focuses on the recent research activities in using computer vision and video analytics technologies in ambient assisted living. In particular, the speaker will share his research experience in vision based human fall detection and dining activities detection at home using surveillance camera and Microsoft Kinect. Some possible future research directions and topics in vision based ambient assisted living will also be discussed.
