On the morning of December 9, 2018, He Shujin, the researcher at China Academy of Sciences , and Professor Li Jiuquan, the Executive Deputy Director of Human Geography, were invited to SEC. They respectively gave the lecture of “The Trend of Professional Journals and the Publication of Sci-tech Texts---- A Case Study on Geographical Journals”, and the lecture of “Selection Perspective of Tourism Research in Human Geography”. Lectures were hosted by Professor Jiang Jinbo, the Deputy Dean of SEC. Over 40 teachers, postgraduate and doctoral students attended.
Deputy Dean Jiang introduced Researcher He Shujin and Professor Li Jiuquan and expressed warm welcome to them. Deputy Dean Jiang hoped that the students would listen carefully and learned the skills of selection, writing and publication of their academic papers.
Firstly, Researcher He Shujin introduced the status quo, development trend and service objectives of China's geographical journals, and explored the opportunities and challenges of the journals. Then he focused on the development process and academic influences of Human Geography. Researcher He also gave a detailed introduction to the basic requirements and precautions of the writing of geography papers, which provided valuable information for teachers and students.
Professor Li Jiuquan started from the history of of Human Geography, the main columns and brand achievements, and then explained the sources of journal articles in the past five years with data. Later, Professor Li put forward three views on the selection direction of Human Geography. First, be more international. Second, pay more attention to domestic academic conferences and papers. Third, focus more on academic achievements related to China’s strategies.
Based on their academic work experiences, two experts highlighted some important points, including writing and publication of academic papers, as well as the research direction of tourism in the following years. They encouraged students to study diligently and do academic research pragmatically.
At the end of the lecture, two experts discussed and exchanged ideas on writing and publication of high-level essay in geographical journals.
