1. Professional positioning
The Computer Science and Technology major at South China University of Technology is a national first-class major, a national characteristic major, a first-class major in Guangdong Province, one of the first batch of famous majors in Guangdong Province, and a first level key discipline in Guangdong Province. The Innovation Class of Computer Science and Technology focuses on building the training objectives of a high-level research-oriented university, emphasizing the cultivation of students' computer innovation awareness, research ability, and application ability, and aligning the training content with international computer science knowledge. The innovation class adopts a combination of undergraduate and doctoral studies, strengthens basic knowledge of mathematics and physics, implements fully English teaching that is in line with internationalization, runs through the entire process of mentorship, cultivates students' systematic scientific thinking and broad international perspectives, and strengthens students' innovation and research abilities. Since its establishment, the Innovation Class has cultivated a large number of elite talents with international perspectives and outstanding innovation abilities.
2. Training objectives
Taking the cultivation of moral character as the foundation, we aim to cultivate elite talents in the field of computer science with a solid theoretical foundation in computer science, a systematic grasp of the knowledge system in the field, outstanding engineering practice and scientific research abilities in the field, patriotism and global vision, outstanding three forces (learning, thinking, and action), and comprehensive development of morality, intelligence, physical fitness, aesthetics, and labor skills. Graduates have the ability to independently engage in scientific research in the field of computer science, achieve innovative results in computer science or specialized technology, consciously practice socialist core values, have good comprehensive qualities, and possess lifelong learning abilities.
3. Cultivation specifications
This major adopts a 3+1+4 undergraduate doctoral program, with a four-year undergraduate program. The first three years require completion of most of the undergraduate credits, and the fourth year requires completion of graduate courses. Undergraduate students are required to take 170 credits, while graduate students are required to take 54 credits. Require students to have a solid theoretical foundation in computer science and a systematic grasp of the knowledge system in the field of computer science. Require students to possess outstanding engineering practical and scientific research abilities in the field of computer science; Be able to apply the theoretical foundation and professional knowledge possessed to solve complex computer engineering problems; Be able to conduct research on complex engineering problems related to computers based on scientific principles and using scientific methods; Be able to consciously practice the socialist core values, have good comprehensive qualities, and possess lifelong learning ability.
4. Curriculum system
The curriculum of this major consists of public basic courses, professional basic courses, and elective courses.
The core courses include: advanced language programming, discrete mathematics, data structures, databases, computer composition and architecture, algorithm design and analysis, artificial intelligence, operating systems, computer networks, software engineering, etc.
The practical teaching process includes: military skills, Marxist theory and practice, engineering training I, electronic technology internship II, advanced language programming homework, data structure homework, database course design, operating system course design, software engineering course design, graduation internship, graduation project, etc。

5. Teaching staff
The Computer Science and Technology major has established a high-level teaching team with subject leaders, professors, associate professors and other teaching and research backbones as the core. There are a total of 82 full-time teachers and 7 experimental teachers in the profession. The teaching staff has high-level teaching ability, outstanding scientific research and academic ability, and a broad international perspective. The age structure of the teaching staff in this major is reasonable, with middle-aged and young teachers as the main body, and a combination of old, middle-aged, and young teachers. The proportion of teachers with doctoral degrees is 91.5%, and the proportion of teachers with senior professional titles is 85.4%. 89% of teachers have overseas study experience or more than six months of overseas study or work experience. 74.4% of teachers have practical experience and engineering background in enterprise engineering. 91.5% of teachers have a professional background in computer science, and 8.5% of teachers have a similar professional background in computer science.
Our professional teachers aim to cultivate students' moral character and devote themselves to undergraduate teaching, continuously carrying out various teaching reforms and explorations. In the past three years, teachers from the college have collaborated with renowned companies such as Huawei and Tencent to host 24 collaborative education projects between industry and academia under the Ministry of Education. They have also been approved for 2 provincial-level teaching and research reform projects and 69 school level projects, covering reform practices such as teaching content, teaching methods, curriculum systems, experimental practices, and industry academia cooperation. 41 teachers have published 25 research papers and 130 teachers have won various undergraduate teaching awards on campus; Publish 7 textbooks.
The faculty of this major has outstanding academic abilities and profound research capabilities in the field of computer application technology. We have one foreign academician of the European Academy of Sciences, one academician of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts, one IEEE Fellow, one IAPR Fellow, three national outstanding young talents, three new century talents from the Ministry of Education, and five outstanding young talents from Guangdong Province. In recent years, fruitful academic achievements have been made in scientific research projects, papers, and patents.
6. Teaching conditions
This major is equipped with a Computer Teaching Experiment Center, located in Building B3 of the University City Campus, established in February 1999. The Computer Teaching Experiment Center has complete teaching equipment, including software engineering, computer hardware systems, embedded systems, computational intelligence and data mining, high-performance computing, computer networks and security, intelligent multimedia, computer architecture, intelligent robots, and other laboratories. It has been awarded the Guangdong Province Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center (2015). Professional experimental courses include programming experiments, compilation principle experiments, operating system experiments, multimedia technology experiments, computer network experiments, embedded experiments, data structure experiments, etc., all of which are completed in the Computer Experimental Teaching Center.
To enhance the cultivation of students' innovative practical abilities, this major combines the geographical advantages of the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area and collaborates with well-known enterprises such as Tencent, Huawei, China Telecom, and China Unicom to establish 21 off campus internship bases through school enterprise cooperation. Starting from 2017, the program has implemented comprehensive internships, and all students in this major have entered well-known companies in the industry such as Huawei and Tencent for off campus internships, receiving unanimous praise from both companies and students.
In addition, this major utilizes its disciplinary advantages to establish internship bases on campus. Students can enter a number of research bases in advance, including the East Province Key Laboratory of Computer Networks, the Guangdong Province Engineering Technology Research Center for Big Data Analysis and Processing, and the Guangdong University Intelligent Information Processing and Security Engineering Technology Research Center for Massive Big Data, for scientific research practice.
