Congratulations on the Young Pearl Scholar appointment to Dr Yuejiao Gong

Recently, the Guangdong Provincial Department of Education announced the 2017 Guangdong Pearl River Scholars Program (professional) and appointment list. 14 programs (majors) such as Materials Physics and Chemistry of South China University of Technology are appointed as Guangdong Pearl River Scholars Program, and also Associate Professor Yuejiao Gong from our institute has appointed as Young Young Pearl Scholar.

In recent years, adhering to the principle of building a first-class university, the school proposes a number of policy to strength the talents including the young professional promotion and Xinghua Scholars Program. Collaborating with the talent projects with Guangdong Province, our school establishes a complete talent employment and cultivation system to realize to boost the development of the talent.


Yuejiao Gong, female, born in July 1988, associate professor of School of Computer Science and Engineering, and master tutor. She finished her Ph.D. degree from Sun Yat-sen University, and worked in Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, University of Macao and other colleges and universities engaged in scientific research. Her research interests are in computational intelligence, evolutionary computation and its application in smart cities, etc.. She has published 24 articles in JCR-SCI I area, including 17 articles in the IEEE Transactions series of high-level publications such as IEEE TEVC, TCYB, and TNNLS. She was awarded the Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Award from ACM Guangzhou, High Performance Collaborative Innovation Center and other institutions, and the award winner of the Anita Borg Computer Female Scientist Award from Google. She is PI of the National Natural Science Foundation of Youth Fund 1, and co-published a textbook.
