(1)In the aspect of teaching, Professor Bi is in charge of the course Embedded System for undergraduate and postgraduates. He gained 2015 and 2016 Industry-University Collaboration Cultivation Projects by ARM, Google and Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China. He is devoted to teaching, researching and developing machine learning combined with embedded systems, network and pattern classification, etc. His book publications include “ARM Cortex-M4 Microprocessor Principles and Application: Based on Atmel SAM4” and “Principles of MCU and Embedded System Design: Principles, Application, Proteus Simulation, and Experiment Design”.
(2) In the aspect of research, Professor Bi is the core member of Guangzhou Key Laboratory of Robotics and Intelligent Software. He has carried out researches about intelligent sense of robots and is conducting researches on intelligent perception of robots. His research interests include improving artificial algorithms on robot embedded hardware platforms, building intelligent mobile robot platform and sense, perception as well as navigation of humanoid robots under unknown environments. He was in charge of more ten programs related to intelligent hardware, robots and mobile phones, published more than 30 papers retrieved by EI and 5 papers retrieved by SCI and had more than ten authorized invention and patents.
(3) In the aspect of cultivating students, Professor Bi won Excellent Guide Teacher Award for guiding students in practice and innovation activity. Besides, he was the champion in 2006 Fira, 2008 China Robcup and 2009 Strait Cup Robot Contest. His students mainly work for Game Development Department in NetEase, Machine Learning Department in Baidu, Data Analysis Department in Tencent and Huawei, or study further in University of California, Los Angeles, Rice University, Michigan State University, University of North California, Hong Kong University, etc.
(4)In the aspect of overseas exchanges and cooperation, Professor Bi conducted his post-doctor researches in both City University of Hong Kong and Hong Kong University. He also had short-term academic exchange in Michigan State University. He now continues to maintain communication and cooperation with these universities.
