On Oct. 12, 2015, We invited Prof. Pheng Ann Heng and Prof. WONG Tien-Tsin from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Prof. Guiqing Li from our school to make a special report on advanced technology about computer graphic and image processing. Prof. Pheng Ann Heng is the Director of Virtual Reality, Visualization and Imaging Research Center at CUHK. He has been appointed as a Cheung Kong Scholar Chair Professor by Ministry of Education and University of Electronic Science and Technology of China since 2007. He is offered a lifetime professorship by CUHK. He has been selected as member of “the Thousand Talents Plan” since 2013 and co-Chairman of SIGGRAPH Asia, Eurographics and other famous international conferences.
All these three professors excel in their respective fields. They expounded concisely the advanced technology about computer graphic and image processing in three aspects of “Virtual Reality Surgical Simulation”, “the key technology of Digital Animation” and “Animation sequence processing”. Prof. Pheng Ann Heng talked about virtual reality technology combined with visual person plans to achieve computer operation simulation training. Prof. WONG Tien-Tsin communicated with the students about the application and breakthoughs of computer technology in Digital Animation. Prof. Guiqing Li introduced the related knowledge about Animation Sequence processing to improve the compressive rate of video and make it played smoothly. This report was very popular and the conference was packed that afternoon. All the students were very interested in the topic.
This report is a good communication between other excellent colleges and our school. It was also a good chance for our students to broaden perspective and know about more advanced technology. It provided us much precious experience about our future work.
