[Biography]
(1)Dr. Qiwei Zhang obtained hisB.S. in Applied Chemistry from East China University of Science and Technology(ECUST) in 2009 and received his Ph.D.in Applied Chemistry in 2014 from ECUST under the supervision ofProf. He Tian (Professor Tian is an Academician of Chinese Academy of Science). He then joined Prof. Roeland J.M. Nolte’s group as a postdoctoral researcher atRadboud University Nijmegen (The Netherlands, Oct. 2014 – Jan. 2017) as apostdoctoral fellow (Professor Nolte is a Member of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences, and the Academia Europaea). From Feb. 2017 to now, Dr. Zhang works in Prof. Bradley D. Smith’s group as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Notre Dame (USA).
His research focuses on controllable andfunctional supramolecular self-assemblies and polymers, molecularleveldevices and machines, and he is especially interested in the application of photo-responsive supramolecular systems. Dr. Zhang has published 10 papers, including J. Am. Chem. Soc. (1), Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. (1), Chem. Commun. (2), and Langmuir (1) as the first author. It is noteworthy that his paper on “photo-controlled covalent/noncovalent switchable polymer” was highlighted in “Nature, 2013, 498, 141”.

(3)Dr. Jinshan Guo graduated in 2005 and 2011, from Shandong University and Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and earned his Bachelor degree of Engineering and Doctor degree of Science respectively. Since June 2011, he started his postdoctoral research, first in UT Arlington, and then in The Pennsylvania State University (PSU). He went into industry area in USA for 1 year since 2016, and came back to academia at 2017 and joined into Harvard University. His research focused in biomaterials, tissue engineering, medical device, origin of life and artificial life. He published 26 SCI journal papers in Adv. Mater., Angew. Chem., et. al., 2 book chapters, and 6 patents. He obtained The Annual Penn State Innovation Awards of 2015.

(4)Dr. Kun Shen received his B.S. in chemistry from Wuhan University in 2008 and his Ph.D. in organic chemistry from Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry (SIOC), Chinese Academy of Science (CAS) in 2013, under the supervision of Professor Xiyan Lu. Since August 2013, he has been performing postdoctoral research in the laboratory of Professor Qiu Wang at Duke Chemistry. His research interests focus on the development of novel synthetic methodologies, especially the highly efficient and selective transformations of alkenes.

(5)Dr. Pan Jun graduated from University of Science and Technology of China in 2010 and obtained Ph. D. degree in inorganic chemistry.  He worked as  a post-doctoral fellow from August 2010 to August 2014 in King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) in Saudi Arabia, and he is a research Scientist in KAUST since September 2014.  His research is focus on nanomaterials, especially on the synthesis of quantum dots and perovskite materials and their optoelectronics study. He has published 38 SCI papers in this field with a H index of 20. He published first author papers in Adv Mater, J Am Chem Soc, Acs Nano, J Phys Chem Lett and other journals. One of his work “Automated Synthesis of Photovoltaic-Quality Colloidal Quantum Dots using Separate Nucleation and Growth Stages” was received Seed Fund Award of 200 K USD $. He is also a Co-founder of Quantum Solutions (startup company in Saudi Arabia).

(6)Dr. Lihao Han got his Ph.D. degree on photovoltaics and photoelectrochemistry in the Delft University of Technology, the Netherlands, in January 2015, after studying photovoltaics in Tsinghua University, China. From 2013 to 2014, Dr. Han was a visiting researcher in California Institute of Technology (Caltech) in USA, focusing on artificial photosynthesis. From 2105 to 2016, Dr. Han was a postdoctoral scientist in the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland, working on solar water splitting by semiconductor particles. Meanwhile, he was employed as a guest scientist by The University of Tokyo, Japan. In October 2016, Dr. Han returned to Caltech and started working as a staff scientist on novel solar applications.

(7)Peng Li :He obtained the B.S. of applied physics at Tianjin University (2002-2006). He finished Ph.D. Thesis (2006-2011) on the anisotropy of epitaxial half-metallic Fe3O4 films and heterostructures  for spintronics under Prof. Haili Bai, the Dean of Graduate School of Tianjin University. After 2 years assistant professor in Tianjin University (2011-2013), he resigned from department of Physics in Tianjin University and moved to King Abdullah University of Science and Technology as a postdoc research fellow (2014-now). And his research interests are focused on physics of nanodevices, the interdisciplinary of physics and chemistry, and  the quantum physics in 2D materials, including graphene and 2D topological Weyl and Dirac materials. Recently, he is also engaged into the interdisciplinary of 2D materials and spintronics, the spin-orbit-torques in Weyl semimetal and ferromagnet system. His publications are more than 50 papers, with 22 papers as first author or corresponding author. All the papers are published on Nature Communications, ACS Nano, Advanced Functional Materials, Chemistry of Materials, Physical Review B, and Applied Physics Letters etc.

(8)Dr. Zhaodong  Li earned his Bachelor degree from Southwest University in 2009 and was awarded the Ph.D degree in Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2014. From September of 2014 to September of 2017, Dr. Li worked in Prof. Cristina Nevado,s group of Zurich University for his post-doctor research. In October of 2017, Dr. Li  continued  his post-doctor research in Prof. Jieping Zhu group of EPFL (École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne) . Dr. Li focuses on developing new methodology of fluorine chemistry and cross-coupling reaction based on radical intermediate, which enable him to publish 14 papers, including 3xJACS, 1xACIE in his six first-author papers. Moreover, Dr. Li,s PhD thesis on radical fluorine chemistry won the Shanghai Excellent Doctoral Dissertation in 2016,  and  he was also awarded the Novartis Post-doctor fellowship by Novartis company in 2016.

(9)Dr. Wei Zhao obtained his Bachelor and Master degree in science at University of Science and Technology of China in 2006 and 2009. He obtained his Ph.D. degree at University of Erlangen-Nuremberg in Germany in 2013. After that, he worked in Hong Kong University of Science and Technology from April 2014 to April 2015. Then he worked in University of Washington in US from May 2015 up to now. He focused on precise measurement of the energetics of important catalytic intermediates on transition metal surfaces and the metal nanoparticles/oxide interaction by single crystal adsorption calorimetry. He has produced 24 highly regarded SCI journal articles in flagship publications and there are 11 first-authored papers among them, which have amassed more than 510 citations.

(10) Dr. Kun Xu graduated from the University of Freiburg in 2014, obtained PhD degree in organic chemistry. Since 2015, he worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the Dresden University of Technology. His research focus on the areas of organic chemistry and organic materials. He is particularly interested in the catalytic transformation of alkynes and allenes, molecular functional materials. He has authored/coauthored 8 publications in Nat. Commum., J. Am. Chem. Soc., Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. and Chem. Sci., two of them were highlighted as “Very Important Paper” or “Hot Paper”.

(11)Dr. Jing Gu graduated from Wuhan University with a BS in 2006, followed by Tulane University in 2011 as a Ph.D. In the time range between 2011/12 and 2016/08, she was a Postdoc working at Princeton University and National Renewable Energy Lab. In the year of 2016, she started her independent career as an assistant professor at San Diego State University. Her research focuses on solar energy conversion of hydrogen and carbon dioxide. She had published 23 SCI journals until now, including one published in Science, one in Nature Materials, one in Nature Energy and two in JACS as a first author. Her work was reported by Department of Energy, Scientific America, and Guancha website.
