On July 16th, Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Fermentation and Enzyme Engineering organized a conference of academic committees and seminars on the development of cutting-edge biotechnology and bio-fermentation industries at the University City Campus of SCUT. Vice President Zhu Min of South China University of Technology attended the meeting and delivered a speech. The academic committee members of 8 key laboratories such as Academician Zheng Yuguo, the Science and Technology Department of the School and the relevant leaders of the School of Biological Science and Engineering attended the meeting.

The participating committee members listened carefully to the introduction of the college by Professor Lin Zhangwei, Dean of the School of Biological Sciences and Engineering and the key laboratory work report by Professor Lin Ying, the director of the key laboratory, fully affirmed the achievements of the college and laboratory.

At the meeting, the members of the meeting held a heated discussion on the development strategy of the frontier biotechnology and bio-fermentation industry, and proposed to pool resources, consolidate content, form landmark research results, strengthen talents' induction and raise the level of research teams. Promote the organic combination of synthetic biology and fermentation engineering, and solve the bottleneck problem of the industry development.

The meeting also invited Academician Zheng Yuguo to give an academic report entitled Technology Innovation in Pharmaceutical Bio-Manufacturing Engineering. Academician Zheng comprehensively introduced the development status of China's pharmaceutical industry and the application of biotechnology in drug manufacturing, and clarified the importance of the key technology breakthroughs in drug bio-manufacturing to promote the development of China's pharmaceutical industry.
