the academic report of NIH's researcher Ou Jingxing
time: 2018-05-04

On the morning of April 26th, Ou jingxing, an alumnus of our college and a researcher of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) visited our institute and made an academic report on the subject Induced pluripotent stem cells from a hibernator: how studying ‘hibernation’ in a dish may benefit us”.

At the report meeting, Dr. Ou clarified the cold-keeping mechanisms of nerve cells in hibernating animals and found two key points that common cells could not resist low temperatures. According to this mechanism, he has targeted human nerve cells to achieve its purpose of resisting cold temperatures. This result has important application value for the preservation and transplantation of cells, tissues, and even organs.

Dr. Ou has published more than 20 papers in well-known foreign journals and has delivered keynote speeches at international conferences. The research results of this report were recently launched on the internationally renowned academic journal Cell. In the future, the dream of human beings to resist cold and prolong lifespan is very likely to be realized.
