The Musicology Department,
established in July 2004,comprise of Musicology and Music Theory and Composition. There are 11 teachers including 4 professors, 5 associate professors,and 2 lecturers; 2 doctorate degree advisor and 9 master degree advisors. Current dean is Prof. Bai Ling, and the deputy dean is Zhang Xiaofeng.
The Musicology Department not only has basic theory courses, but also open plenty music appreciation classes for all the students at scut. In order to adapt the development of the 21st century, the department insist in training professional music scholars with competitive, creative and comprehensive minds. By means of strictly, systematic and professional study and practice, the students are required to grasp the professional knowledge comprehensively, solidly and systematically, improve their analytical skill, cultivate the ability for understand different styles and genres, finally reach to a better thesis level. There are 44 distinguish students has graduated in the past 8 years.
The Department of Instrumental Performance,
established in July 2004. There are 19 teachers including 1 professor, 6 associate professor, 2 secondary performer, 9 lectures; 8 master degree advisors. The current dean is Song Weijia, and the deputy dean is Wang yue.
The instrumental department not only provide music courses for major students, but also for general students at SCUT. Through strictly, systematically and professional study and practice, the department made great efforts in cultivate talents in performance area in order to adapt the modern society. The students can have comprehensive, solid and systematically training in music theory and performing technique. As many as 212 students had graduated in the past 8 years.
The Department of Vocal Performance,
established in July 2004, now it has 8 teachers including 5 associate professors and 3 instructors; 4 master degree advisors. The previous dean was associate Prof. WU GUOLING, the deputy dean was associate Prof. Chen gangyi.
The vocal department not only provide music courses for major students, but also for general students at SCUT. Through strictly, systematically and professional study and practice, the department made great efforts in cultivate talents in vocal performance area in order to adapt the modern society. The students can have comprehensive, solid and systematically training in music theory and performing technique. As many as 209 students had graduated in the past 8 years.
The Department of Dance,
established in July 2004, now it has 7 teachers including 1 professor and 7 instructors; 3 master degree advisor. The current dean is Prof. Liu bo.and the deputy dean is Wang na.
The dance department not only provide courses for major students, but also for general students at SCUT. Through strictly, systematically and professional study and practice, the department made great efforts in cultivate talents in dancing in order to adapt the modern society. The students can have comprehensive, solid and systematically training in theory and performing technique. As many as 170 students had graduated in the past 8 years.
The Education center of Art （SCUT）
was founded on Feb 18th, 1998. It attached to the School of Art in July 2004. Main task: take charge of public art courses of the university; conduct students’ off campus art education programs; construct the art environment of the university.
The Educational Center of Art provides more than 30 courses of artistic appreciations and techniques. More than six thousand students participate in those courses. The center had recruited more than 160 art specialty students in the past 11 years.
Under the contribution of all the staffs and faculties of the center and the university, in 2000 and 2010 SCUT was awarded the “Advanced school in art education of China”.
