Founded in November of 2003, the Guangzhou Woodwind Quintet has pursued a genre of classical chamber music that is relatively unexposed and new for China.  Aside from all being members of the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra, the group is also quite international in that it is made up of members from the nations of China, Japan, and America.  From the music of J.S. Bach to contemporary Cuban-American dance pieces, the Guangzhou Woodwind Quintet seeks to educate the public on this genre of music through audience-engaging, spirited, and spontaneous performances.
