2016 Cross-strait urban design workshop came to an end successfully

On the afternoon of Oct. 21, the final review of 2016 Cross-strait urban design workshop was held in School of Architecture, South China University of Technology (SCUT). After working together for ten days, teachers and students from three universities attended the final review of the workshop.

This workshop was co-hosted by Schools of Architecture of SCUT, Tamkang University and Feng Chia University in Taiwan, chief directed by Executive Deputy Dean of School of Architecture, SCUT, Prof. Sun Yimin, co-guided by Prof. Huang Ruimao from School of Architecture of Tamkang University , Associate Prof. Shen Yangting from School of Architecture, Feng Chia University in Taiwan, Associate Prof. Su Ping, Wang lu, PhD Li Minzhi and Xu Haohao from School of Architecture, SCUT, assisted by Xin Ying and Zheng Yuchen from School of Architecture, SCUT and Chen Yi from School of Architecture, Feng Chia University in Taiwan.

The senior planner, former Deputy Secretary - General of the Guangzhou Municipal Government, former Director of Guangzhou Planning Bureau, PhD Pan An, academic committee member of School of Architecture, TU Delft, Prof. Vincent Nadin, Doctor tutor of School of Architecture, SCUT, Prof. Zhang Chunyang and Associate Prof. Ling Xiaohong were invited to attend the final review.

On the afternoon of Oct. 12, after the preliminary site investigation in the morning, teachers and students had a brainstorming and made up a concept sketch of “four quadrants”, which were four meaningful topics—“ecological flow”, “Flowing ecology”, “boundary of the form” and “form of Boundary”. Through ten days of interpretation, discussion, research and design, every group had presented very exciting results in the end.
