SCUT wins the 2nd place in SD China

Solar Decathlon (SD) China, known as the Olympics in the solar world, ended in Datong, Shanxi Province on August 11. After the fierce competitions with 22 teams all around the world, Team SCUT won the 2nd place and achieved the best result among the Chinese teams. Moreover, Team SCUT won 8 contests awards out of the 10 as one of the best 3, which was the best achievement made by Chinese teams so far.

36 collegiate teams from 13 countries, including China, America and Singapore, entered the final. E-concave, an energy-efficient, high-tech, modularized and livable solar house designed by Team SCUT, was well received by the judges and won the 2nd place in the overall contest. The 1st and 3rd places were achieved by Team UOW (University of Wollongong, Australia) and Team CUT (Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden) respectively.
SD was sponsored by U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). Since its launch in 2002, 6 subsequent competitions had been hosted. This year, it came to China for the first time. SD China was hosted by National Energy Administration of China (NEA) and DOE, co-hosted by the Ministry of Finance (MOF) and Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development (MOHURD).
It was reported that members of SCUT were mainly from School of Architecture, School of Civil and Transportation Engineering and School of Business Administration. Their supervisors were XIAO Yiqiang, MENG Qinglin, ZHONG Guanqiu, WANG Jing, JIANG Wenyi, LI Jin, WANG Shuo and so forth.
