TheLecture Series by three Academicians in Soft Matter Science, jointly organizedby South China University of Technology (SCUT) and the School of Emergent SoftMatter (SESM), was held in Lecture Hall F1-b108 of the Guangzhou InternationalCampus on the morning of December 9th. Three invited speakers—Egbert W. MEIJER,Fellow of the European Academy of Sciences and the International Member of theUS National Academy of Sciences; Takuzo AIDA, Recipient of Medal with PurpleRibbon (Japan) and the International Member of the US National Academy ofEngineering; and Stephen Z.D. CHENG, Member of the US National Academy of Engineering—sharedtheir insights on the latest research findings and emerging trends in the fieldof soft matter. Vice President Weiqing Li attended the event and delivered anopening speech. More than 200 faculties and students attended the meeting.

On behalfof SCUT, Vice President Weiqing Li extended a warm welcome to Professor Meijerand Professor Aida for coming from a long journey. She briefly introduced theuniversity's history and groundbreaking achievements in discipline development, scientific research innovation, and talent cultivation. She emphasized that SESMis a vital talent hub and innovation highland established by SCUT in line withthe principle of innovation is the primary driving force and talent isthe primary resource. With the guidance of the InternationalAcademic Advancement Council established by SESM, the School has gathereda large number of high-level overseas talents and achieved fruitful scientific researchachievements. The three academicians invitedtoday are all members of the International Academic Advancement Council,TheVice President sincerely thanked them for their significant contributions totalent recruitment for the University and the School. She anticipated that theacademic talks would broaden the international horizons of faculties andstudents and promote cross-disciplinary collaborations in soft matter science.

During the talks, faculties and students engaged inin-depth discussions with the academicians, and explored new research ideasbased on their presentations and ongoing research projects. As Professor CHENG summarizedin his closing remarks, Today's talks are both profound and extensive. As long as we embrace challenges and listenattentively, we will always gain something from these valuable insights.
