From June 17th to 27th, 2019 Summer School for Soft Matters: Fundamentals and Frontiers was successfully organized by South China Advanced Institute for Soft Matter Science and Technology (AISMST), South China University of Technology (SCUT).  With the great support of the Graduate School of SCUT, we are able to invite 5 renowned professors in the field of soft matter to give 72 hours lectures, and to have indepth scientifical discussion with all the attenders.  107 undergraduates and graduate students from 12 universities, including Sichuan University, Tongji University, Xiamen University, Shanghai University, University of Science and Technology of China, Sun Yat-Sen University, etc. took part in the summer class and earned their course certificates through 11 days .

Prof. Dr. Cheng, attended the opening ceremony. In his opening remark, he emphasized that the primary responsibility of a university is education, other than scientifical research. The summer school is expected to provide an excellent opportunity for students and young scholars working in the related field to strengthen their background in soft matter science. He also encourage the students to: Do science research with reverence and learn to accumulate knowledge and experience; Be a scholar with integrity and elegance.

The summer school covers all aspects in field of soft matters, from synthesis approach, physical and chemical properties in solution and condensed state, self-assembly behavior and their applications. 

Using this opportunity, we hope we could strength our teaching level, broad our academic communication, and inspire innovative thinking of students. AISMST plans to regard summer frontier lectures as a long-term project of modular teaching, which will be organized annually.
