Brief Biography:

Dr. Toolan received his bachelor's degree (first class honours) from the University of Sheffield in the United Kingdom in 2011, and his Ph.D. in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at the University of Sheffield in 2014. His research focuses on synthesis, development and application of functional composite polymers, including spin-coating of organic solar materials and in-situ studies of their phase separation, preparation and kinetic studies of enzyme-controlled responsive hydrogel microparticles, and rational design of next-generation optoelectronic composite membrane preparation processes. After graduating, he worked as an assistant researcher at the University of Sheffield in the United Kingdom. He has hosted seven research projects as PI or Co-PI. His research has published nearly 20 papers in internationally renowned journals, such as Advanced Materials, Journal of Materials. Chemistry A, Nanoscale, Macromolecules, Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics, Langmuir. Dr. Toolan is a professional member of the Royal Society of Chemistry and the Institute of Physics and has undertaken the undergraduate course Chemistry for Chemical Engineers.
