二、项目介绍 

我院去年与美国凯斯西储大学签署关于“3+2”联合培养项目的协议。根据协议，我院符合申请条件的学生在华南理工大学完成本科前三年的学习后，从本科第四年赴美国凯斯西储大学进行为期两年的学习。学习期满后，若符合华南理工大学和美国凯斯西储大学的学位授予要求及条件，可以获得华南理工大学的本科学士学位和美国凯斯西储大学的硕士学位。 

美国凯斯西储大学，简称CWRU，位于俄亥俄州的克里夫兰，是一所以独立研究闻名的顶尖私立大学，美国一级国家级大学，位列2022 QS世界大学排名第161名，2022年U.S. News美国最佳大学排名第44名。

CWRU拥有美国第一个高分子系，是全球领先的高分子专业，也是美国第一所开设高分子科学学士学位的学校。CWRU的高分子科学与工程学院有十多位领域内的前沿研究人员，正在致力于推进新一代高分子研究，以制造未来的电子产品、电池、生物义肢、给药装置、可持续包装等。研究人员目前正在开发可以吸收泄漏原油的气凝胶，以及能够承受极端温度的粘合剂，并使用纳米颗粒来保护农作物。

三、主讲人介绍

　　Professor Lei Zhu received his B.S. degree in Materials Chemistry in 1993 and M.S. degree in Polymer Chemistry and Physics in 1996 from Fudan University. He received his Ph.D. degree in Polymer Science from University of Akron in 2000. After two-year post-doctoral experience at the Maurice Morton Institute, University of Akron, he joined Institute of Materials Science and Department of Chemical, Materials and Biomolecular Engineering at University of Connecticut, as an assistant professor. In 2007, he was promoted to associate professor with tenure. In 2009, he moved to the Department of Macromolecular Science and Engineering at Case Western Reserve University as an Associate Professor. In 2013, he was promoted to full Professor. His research interests include high κ polymer and organic-inorganic hybrid nanomaterials for high energy density capacitor applications, development of artificial antibody as nanomedicines, and supramolecular self-assembly of discotic liquid crystals. He is a recipient of NSF Career Award, 3M Non-tenured Faculty Award, DuPont Young Professor Award, Rogers Teaching Excellence Award, University of Akron Department of Polymer Science Distinguished Alumni Award, and APS fellow. He is author and co-author of 231 refereed journal publications and 10 book chapters. He delivered over 200 invited talks, and his total citation is ~13235 times with an h-index of 63 (Google Scholar).
