内容摘要：Ab-initio electronic structure calculations have progressed to a large extent where theycan be used to predict the properties of materials quite accurately. The question thatfollows then is whether we can understand the underlying reasons that are responsible fora material to behave in a particular manner. In this talk, I will take examples from ourown research to understand why a system behaves the way it does.
